Technician- Maintenance (Crew/AM Shift)

Job Description

Job Title: Technician - Maintenance I (C Crew / AM Shift). Location: New Iberia, LA, United States

Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance tasks for facility, equipment, and grounds as assigned, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness;
• Conduct on-site service & repair of manufacturing equipment, meeting at least 70% of estimated repair times.
• Read & interpret electrical/mechanical drawings and technical manuals;
• Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety practices.
• Manage waste generated from maintenance activities per instructions.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations;
• Complete the First Solar Maintenance Technician 1 training program.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred;
• Experience:
  • 6 months of First Solar manufacturing experience, or
  • 6 months of external manufacturing, mechanical, or agricultural experience; or
  • Military experience, or
  • Vocational High School graduate (no experience required).
• Technical skills in electrical, mechanical, vacuum systems, or robotics preferred.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and self-management skills.

Requirements:

• Sit, stand, or walk for up to 12 hours/day;
• Lift up to 58 pounds occasionally & 37 pounds frequently.
• Push/pull up to 27 pounds occasionally.
• Climb stairs, stoop, kneel, or bend occasionally;
• Comply with safety standards, including wearing personal protective equipment (steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, respirators, etc.).

Travel: Extensive travel (60-80%) to plants in Ohio or Alabama for training if hired before the plant startup.
