Technician - Maintenance I

Job Description

Responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining production tools, including electrical systems, motors, vacuum pumps, conveyors, robots, and material handling machines. This encompasses preventive, predictive, and repair maintenance activities. Ensure timely completion of PM Job Plans and Work Orders from the CMMS system, complying with PM requirements. Collaborate with teams such as ME, MFG, and Maintenance Engineers for daily support.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Complete daily assignments as scheduled by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Perform on-site service and repair of equipment.

Adhere to EHS and First Solar safe practices.

Identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities.

Interpret and understand mechanical drawings.

Manage and dispose of waste per ISO14001 procedures, including hazardous waste like HEPA filters, spent oil, and e-waste.

Ensure proper labeling and disposal of empty drums or chemical containers.

Follow ISO45001 safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping standards.

Notify EHS Department of any hazardous waste concerns.

Experience:

1-2 years of relevant experience for diploma holders.

No experience required for fresh entries with a technical diploma (OJT provided).

Education:

- Diploma in electrical/electronic or electro-mechanical engineering preferred.

Required Skills:

Behavioral:

Teamwork and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Adherence to First Solar EHS Safe Work Practices.

Effective communication skills.

Technical:

Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Ability to read schematics and technical drawings.

Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, vacuum systems, and robotics.

Capable of following LOTO procedures.

Demonstrated analytical troubleshooting skills.

Data entry skills for CMMS/Maximo system.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires extended periods of sitting or standing, walking, and climbing stairs. It involves reaching above shoulder height and below the waist, lifting up to 25kg, and occasionally stooping, kneeling, or bending. Standard vision is required, with no colorblindness allowed (glasses are acceptable). Shift work is mandatory, and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed shoes, cut-resistant gloves, jackets, aprons, arm guards, safety glasses, and hearing protection are required, with the possibility of needing a respirator on the production floor.
