Wastewater Operator (Training)

Job Description

Position: Wastewater Operator

Company: Veolia

Maintain water/wastewater treatment, processing, disposal, and testing equipment to ensure water purification meets permit and operational requirements.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges.

Collect and test water and sewage samples.

Record meter and gauge readings and operational data.

Operate equipment for water purification and waste processing.

Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filter beds, and work areas.

Inspect equipment regularly.

Follow EPA regulations and ensure safety standards.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience/Background:

High School Diploma or equivalent; effective communication skills required.

Associate's degree in a science or technical field preferred.

2-5 years’ experience in water/wastewater treatment with relevant knowledge.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Proficient in using PPE and operating machinery/equipment (pumps, engines, centrifuge, etc.).

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot process and mechanical issues.

Proficiency with computer programs for process control.

Ability to work in a team environment and handle emergency calls.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

Intermediate level water/wastewater treatment certificate or working towards it.

Valid driver's license and safe driving record.

CDL and Hoisting preferred; Wastewater 3 preferred.

Must pass drug screen and criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:

Standing: 25%; Walking: 75% (up to five miles per shift).

Regular use of hands, reaching, talking, and hearing; occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds).

Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
