Offshore HVAC/HVDC Engineer

Job Description

Position: Senior Offshore Electrical HVAC/HVDC Cable Engineer, UK and Ireland. Location: Birmingham, Bristol, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, St Albans. Hybrid working arrangements considered.

Responsibilities:

• Perform HVDC/HVAC cable calculations, risk assessments, and develop cable protection systems.
• Gather and analyze engineering data; generate detailed cable reports.
• Design offshore HVAC/HVDC cable systems, both static and dynamic.
• Review and optimize design, routing, installation, and commissioning solutions.
• Coordinate with project teams and external subcontractors to manage technical risks and meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Power Engineering (HNC, HND, BSc/BEng, MSc/MEng).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it.
• Experience with software tools like Cymcap, Cableizer, COMSOL.
• Strong communication skills; experience in technical report writing and client interactions.
• Understanding of HVAC and HVDC transmission principles and power systems.
