Offshore HVAC/HVDC Engineer

Job Description

Position: Senior Offshore Electrical HVAC/HVDC Cable Engineer, UK and Ireland

Location: Birmingham, Bristol, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, St Albans. Hybrid working arrangements considered.

Join AECOM’s Cable team to assist in developing and delivering cable systems for T&D projects. Provide technical expertise for bids, proposals, and client meetings.

Responsibilities:

Perform HVDC/HVAC cable calculations, risk assessments, and develop cable protection systems.

Gather and analyze engineering data; generate detailed cable reports.

Design offshore HVAC/HVDC cable systems, both static and dynamic.

Review and optimize design, routing, installation, and commissioning solutions.

Coordinate with project teams and external subcontractors to manage technical risks and meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

5+ years of relevant experience.

Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Power Engineering (HNC, HND, BSc/BEng, MSc/MEng).

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it.

Experience with software tools like Cymcap, Cableizer, COMSOL.

Strong communication skills; experience in technical report writing and client interactions.

Understanding of HVAC and HVDC transmission principles and power systems.
